You may or maynot know the answer to this, but it is a window question.

I have a small ding in my windshied from a rock thrown at me from a semi truck. It has been there for a few months, but now the weather has changed to cold (it is 20 here today). I am a little nervous that some water could get in that tiny ding and freeze and make the crack worse.

Should I get it fixed at a windshield place, or is there an "at home" remedy to patch it?

I'm not sure, in MA we get free replacements just by calling our insurance company. It doesn't matter if it is a ding or a big crack.

I got a small crack in my windshield one. In order for our insurance company to replace, they wanted a $500 deductible. we went years driving that car before we actually sold it. The crack never did get any larger and it gets around 0 here in the winter.

You should call your insurance company just to find out. It may or may not be covered under, "An act of God". If it is, they will replace it free of charge and your rates won't even go up.
