Hello -
Right now in my kitchen I have a regular flat window, BUT I want to put a bay window in the spot above my sink.
I don't want to sound silly but is that possible?
Do I need to measure something since the bay window is bigger and has depth to it as well?
If you could please explain how I measure to see if an existing window area will have enough room for a bay window, that would be awesome!
Thanks in advance |

| You can generally add height to the window without to much of a problem. Some people like to start their bay/bow windows at the same height as their counter tops. The biggest factor with bay/bow windows is if you have enough of an overhang or if there is enough room for a roof over the window. I have replaced many bay/bow windows where people did not have room for a proper roof or a return to the soffitt area---a very expensive mistake! |

Thanks for the fast response, Ita about time I actually found a forum that responds, You have no idea how many places I have aasked questions and no one ever responds, so Thanks !
Ok - What you said makes sense,
Would it be ok if I posted a picture of my window here and maybe just by you seeing the picture, maybe you could give me an idea if it would fit or even look good on my house,
Look forward to your reply! |

Thanks! Go ahead and post a couple pictures, one from both the inside and outside would help. |

Would that window be large enough for a bay window? Normally bay windows are pretty large, you don't usually see small ones above the kitchen sink. But who knows, it may be a pretty cool idea. Good Luck |

I'm generally in favor of garden windows since they do not hog up as much space as a bow window. |

I'm interested on how this project turned out. Where you able to get any pictures taken recently? If so, we would really like to see the final result |

What happens if you cut too much out when trying to install a new window? How would you correct any mistakes that could arise from installing this type of window? I'm sure there are plenty of handymen on the forum that could figure out various ways to correct any mistakes during installation.
