| It doesn't get to cold in the winter. Probably around 40-50 or so. If I replaced all of my metal frames would it help conserve energy or would it not be worth it to upgrade? |

If you are already having a few windows replaced, I would go ahead and replace all of your metal frames to either wood or vinyl. You will notice a huge difference in energy costs |

We've had a number of people tell us this so we have decided to take that leap and get some quotes on new windows. I don't know if I'll install those this spring or maybe later on in the fall. |

| This is a great topic! Even though this is an older thread I just had to comment because I have also wondered the difference in energy cost when comparing wood frames versus metal frames. Some folks swear that metal frames tend to reduce energy costs while other say the difference is not worth the cost of replacement windows. To bad there was no response as to whether or not the replacements windows did actually make a difference.... With today's economy and environmental concerns, I think it is more important than ever to be aware of how much expense and resource is required to keep a home comfortable. |
