We need a couple for our home because they are cracked. We are wondering if there are any cheap alternative windows. We don't need the best, but would still like the house to stay warm in the winter.

I'm sure you can find cheaper windows, around a couple hundred bucks a piece. Just be sure to compare apples to apples before you make any final choices. Cool

That's exactly what we have started doing. I think that's pretty much all we can do right now is compare windows to windows. Cool

The only way to see what these windows would actually cost is to call and get actual quotes. Each window company will give you a different price. Don't always chose the cheapest as it may not be the more energy efficient.

That's something I was going to say in my post above, but forgot. You may want to consider spending a little more to get a little better quality window.

A good window will range from 400- 700 per hole installed. Try Great Lakes or Alside.

My experience, if you want super cheap windows just go to a place like Lowe's or Home Depot. Those places bid each year for the cheapest company to sell them windows! I mean, heck, you buy a window for $110, imagine what they get it for? Talk about a piece of junk.

I totally advise against going to a place like that, at least, go through some sort of supplier who gets their windows manufactured through a decent company. I mean, getting ripped off is one thing. Getting a good deal, is one thing. BUT buying something made with cheap parts for your home -- which is serious --- is pretty dumb. If you are serious. IMO.

Oh well, by the way... name's Samantha new here. Just bought some vinyl replacement windows. New place out in Richmond, VA. Just starting up. Very happy customer. Wish more people knew about them. Window Depot USA. Their actual name is Window Depot USA of Central Virginia.

Pella will sell you expensive window. Some fancy features too. Don't they have the one window with the shades built inside the frame? Fancy stuff! Not cheap either. Think them and Champion are outragous but luxurious.

Pella make horrible vinyl windows and anyone who claims they are affiliated with a company that "sells quality windows cheap" should be ignored. there is a reason why mercedes cost much more than a hyundai.

I tried them when they first came out thinking they were a Pella product.....a good Pella product. Those windows caused more call backs and unhappy customers than I care to remember!
