During the winter months, my windows get so cold that you can put your hand 2-3 inches from the glass and you can feel the cold air. Is this normal or do they need fixed/replaced?
Thanks |

| It sounds to me like you need new replacement windows if your feeling a draft. You will feel a little bit of cold if you hold your hands close enough to each window though. If you holding your hands 2-3 inches you shouldn't feel anything unless it's a draft. |

Yep, it looks like it's time for a few new windows if you feel air coming through. About how many windows are we talking about here? |

Thanks for the fast responses everyone! I'm going to need almost all of my windows replaced it looks like. Hopefully the cost won't be to much. |

Just a little update everyone. I think I have decided to go ahead and get most of my windows replaced. some aren't to bad right now so I'm just going to leave those a lone. I'm going to be getting an estimate here in just a few days. |

| Ours are doing the same thing which is why we are thinking of just having them replaced. That is unless we could somehow fix them for just a few months. |

| We just received our estimate and it is well within our budget. So we have decided to go ahead and hire that contractor to do all of the work for us. |

| As everyone said above, they definitely need replaced. Mine are just about the same way. Don't even bother with trying to fix them. I've been there done that and I haven't had the best experiences with it. |

I had old wood windows in my home. Purchased it about a year ago and last year, I went through my first winter and oh boy, I could feel a cold draft. It was one of the reasons why I decided on getting vinyl replacement windows. They have made a huge difference. Not sure if the person who post this had issues with their vinyl windows or if they were dealing with wood window issues. I had wood. I'll never go back. Though, I can see from a historical aspect why people love them.
Oh well.. if anybody else in Richmond, I recommend they check out Edit- the link was removed by the site's admin. |
