Hi Everyone!
I've been searching for the last few days for 5 new replacement windows. I've heard they can range from a couple hundred up to a couple thousand. My question to you is that are the more expensive ones really worth it? |

| In most cases it's really not worth it. You can get a good decent window that will last for years to come & it won't have to have an expensive price tag. I would only suggest the best if you can afford it. |

| I'm not sure that I would pay top dollar just to have the best windows installed in my home. I just don't think they are worth that much more. Some windows vary by the thousands of dollars. |

Thanks guys! Since I'm on a budget, I don't think I'm going to go all out and get the best. However, I'm not going to get the cheapest. It looks like I'm just going to have to shop around and get a few estimates |

You made a very smart choice. Why pay extra for something you don't really need right now. |

| I never would buy the cheapset anything. Same goes for windows. There are differnet grades of windows just like cars. Expect to spend 400- 600 depending on size and options. Our windows start at 550 installed with paintable exterior trim. In our market we have these guys selling 189 windows. You get four screws and a window. It will stop low flying birds from coming in your home but thats about it. No screens, caulking , or installation. Probablly no customer service either. Try to find a mid sized company. Alside and Greatlakes sell good windows. Good warranty and service too. Good Luck. |

| Thanks Kyle, I actually chose a company this past week to do the work. The windows were price fairly good at around $450 each which isn't to bad. A few other companies were higher and some where lower. |

| You should consider how long you plan to live in the house. Nice windows can make it easier to sell your house if you plan to sell soon, and nicer windows can save you more on energy. |

The truth is, you get what you pay for. I would say $2,000.00 for one window is probably overkill, but $300 or 400 is not necessarily too high. Have you ever heard the expression "buy cheap, pay twice"? If the product doesn't do what you bought it to do, regardless of how good a deal you think you got, was it really a good deal? There are 2 or 3 things to look at in finding a properly performing replacement window. Shelby Vinyl Products of Shelby, Ohio offers a good better best product line with a great window to fit any budget. Check out our blog in the post below.
