Hi, I'm new here and have a problem. We got new windows installed in 2006. We now have moisture in between the panes of one of the windows. The manufacturer came out and checked it and agreed "verbally" to replace the window. They have since sent us a letter stating that a. they are not responsible for the window because they are a different company, even though they still sell the exact same windows. They say they just bought the other company's equipment in a "Bulk Sale" and b. they state the window was instlled improperly because it is at an angle instead of vertical. Their exact words are:
"The picture window as installed wrong. The window should only be installed in a vertical direction not a horizontal angel. The installation problem is causing water to accumulate in the chamber and glass."
First off, it is not horizontal, it is at a 45 degree angle. Second, this window is below an awning so it gets very little rain. and thirdly, the seal had to fail on the window in order for the moisture to get between, so that is a manufacturer defect, correct? We would have contacted the installer but they are out of business.
So, are they correct in stating that it was installed wrong?
Thank you for your time.
sincerely,
Dave |
