| There are some new houses going up in a subdivision close to my house. They have put black plastic in the cutout of where the windows will be installed. What is the purpose of the plastic? |

Generally window openings are covered with Tyvek/Typar to prevent water damage should the window or siding leak. If the process is done correctly the water should be able to flow to the outside without ever causing any water damage. |

Here in my neck of the woods, the builders are putting the windows in as soon as the make the window cutouts. Even before the roof goes on. |

How hard is it to build a frame for a new window? We would like to put a window on our master bedroom and I've never done a project like this before. Is this something the average person can do, or is it best left to a general contractor or professional window installation company?
